Looking for a funny play script that offers great
casting flexibility for a large group of actors?
Consider ...
"Stage Fright"
or
"Family (Dys)Function"
plays by Cindy Collins-Taylor
Both scripts:
• provide plenty of parts that can go to either females or males
• work for a range of acting abilities
• let you assign several small roles to individual actors
• supply at least one speaking role to each actor in a very large cast
• are appropriate for performances by actors ages 12 and up
If you’re producing a full-length play for high school, middle school, or community theater, or if you're in need of multi-character scenes for drama camp or classes, Stage Fright and Family (Dys)Function fit the (play)bill. Kids and adults alike find them funny and entertaining to perform and watch.

Stage Fright
When a new director arrives at Antonio Vecchione High School to take over its theater program, s/he discovers a big challenge, a bit of chaos, a judgmental Greek Chorus, and a comical ghostly presence. Realizing that scripts appropriate for a large group of young performers are hard to come by, the director and the producer decide to hold a contest to find a play that fits their needs. The result is, well … a hot mess. A “meta” comedic look at school theater programs, Stage Fright pokes fun at drama — including the kind that occurs behind the curtain.

Family (Dys)Function
Disputes and quarreling led to a rift between the elite Smith side of the family and the down-home Jones side of family. The two very different groups have successfully avoided each other for years. When the beloved matriarch of the entire clan sends a special birthday request for a Smith-Jones reunion, the rival camps are highly reluctant to get together…until they learn they’ll receive a reward for attending. The resulting event brings a hilarious clash of personalities and cultures. Family (Dys)Function is a lighthearted metaphor for overcoming current societal divisions.
